Drawing on his background as a U.S. Marine combat correspondent, Kenny Garton’s writing is an unflinching exploration of conflict—both on the battlefield and within the human psyche. His worldview has been shaped by time spent everywhere from the halls of power in Washington D.C., to the island of Okinawa, and the unforgiving border city of Tijuana, Mexico, where his understanding of the city’s dark underbelly was informed by a non-consensual stay in its infamous ‘La Ocho’ jail.
His work is heavily influenced by the sparse prose and moral gravity of authors like Cormac McCarthy and Ernest Hemingway, and the character-driven, cinematic suspense of writers like Nic Pizzolatto and Vince Gilligan. A passionate photographer with a deep interest in science, psychology, and philosophy, he now lives and writes in the mountains of Colorado. He graduated from Metro State University in Denver, majoring in English and minoring in photojournalism.
